Orchid House Baja

Our Story

We learned it at home

Orchid House was born from family memories and a deep connection to homemade hospitality. Inspired by the warmth of our grandmothers and mothers, our essence lies in turning every space into a home.

The house seen from above at sunset: tiled roofs and white arcades, palm trees and the pool on the point, with the bay of La Paz and the city beyond

La Paz

Presidential residence

Built in 1948 from local stone, brick and palm beams, the house was conceived as a place of rest for the country's leaders. Presidents, governors and Queen Elizabeth II have all stayed in these rooms.

They came for what is still here. The house has not changed. What changed is who welcomes you: the Orchid House family.

Come home to Mexico.

Belonging is a Destination.

Luxury without pretension

We want to be a benchmark for Boutique Houses in Mexico, and that means redefining luxury: stripping away pretension and anchoring it in authenticity, personal care and emotional connection.

Not a quieter house. Not a more expensive one. It is a house where the surroundings come in — the green, the sea, the street — and where nobody has to pretend to be comfortable.

The roots, told at length

What holds all of this up

Five values

What you will find in every corner of the house, and in every detail of your stay.

  • The entrance stairway to the house, lined with clay pots of agave

    Heritage conservation

The house is a historic building, carefully restored. We kept what was there instead of imitating it.

  • A wicker tray on a lounger, with an avocado ceviche, a cocktail and a small bowl of tortilla chips

    Homemade Hospitality

Every guest arrives as part of the family. Everything else follows from that.

  • The palapa bar at dusk, with guests seated, string lights and the pool facing the ocean

    Family and home

Genuine relationships held up by respect and reciprocity — with guests and with the people who work in the house.

  • The Sea of Cortez from the Baja house, with a garden of agaves and cacti in the foreground

    Nature

The green and the living, in every detail. The surroundings are part of the design.

  • One of the Botanic Bungalows: a round wood-and-palapa cabin, with a deck and wicker chairs

    Authenticity

    Design without pretension. Natural.
